Description

The Penn Hills School District, located in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, accepting applications for day-to-day Food Service employees in all of our school buildings. The hourly pay rate for a permanent general worker is $16.72/hr. The hourly pay rate for a substitute is $15/hr.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE:              General Worker –(Permanent and Substitute Positions)

 

RATE:  $12 per hour

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

                                   

  1. High school diploma or equivalency required
  2. Experience in a food service environment preferred.
  3. Evidence of strong direction-following skills
  4. Excellent communication and organization skills
  5. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  6. Interest in working around children
  7. Willingness to learn new tasks
  8. Ability to work as part of a team.

                                   

REPORTS TO:  Kitchen Manager

 

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:

 

This position assists with serving the students and staff attractive and nutritious meals in an efficient and pleasant manner while adhering to state and federal guidelines.

 

PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Assist customers (students, teachers, administrators, etc) in a kind and friendly manner.
  2. Assist with preparing and serving food while demonstrating proper portion control and observing and practicing all safety techniques and guidelines of HACCP and ACHD.
  3. Maintain a sanitary area that includes but is not limited to: cookware, dishes, utensils, service areas, prep areas, work tables, cookers and equipment.
  4. Maintain proper sanitation throughout the kitchen by practicing proper personal hygiene as required by the Allegheny County Department of Health.
  5. Keep serving lines and other kitchen areas attractive and sanitized during all serving periods and ensure these areas are cleaned at the end of shift.

 

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of meal components and assist customers in building a reimbursable meal.
  2. Handle accounts and monies when necessary by utilizing computers and point of sales systems.
  3. Keep all paperwork accurate and neat.
  4. Adhere to all policies and procedures developed by the school district.
  5. All other duties as assigned by head cook, kitchen manager and/or Assistant FSD/FSD.

  • Ability to kneel, crouch, bend and reach to retrieve and handle inventory and supplies
  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly when communicating
  • Hearing clearly
  • Adequate vision to perform duties
