POSITION TITLE:    Health Room Paraprofessional RN/LPN

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Valid Nurse License from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  2. Experience in medical or school environment, preferred
  3. Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  4. Cooperative, congenial and service oriented.
  5. Ability to manage medical emergencies
  6. Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
  7. Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  9. Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible
  10. Ability and experience working as a member of a team
  11. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.

 

REPORTS TO:  Assistant Superintendent and Building Principal or designee

 

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:

 

This position facilitates the efficient operation of the school health room by performing the assigned duties and functions and collaborating with the certified school nurse.  The LPN/RN is responsible for the care of students during the school day.

 

PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  1. Administers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with established procedures. 
  2. Helps maintains effective health room schedule.
  3. Assists with necessary data collection, supports maintenance of records, notifies parents and /or guardians of acute health concerns, oversees transportation of ill or injured children and initiates accident reports pertaining to health services. 
  4. Provides specialized care as required.
  5. Assists with care, storage, inventory and requisition of supplies and equipment.
  6. Assists with care, storage, distribution, and disposal of student medicines.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

  • Hearing clearly.
  • Adequate vision to perform duties.
