Home School Visitor/Social Worker

Reports to:  Building Principal/Dir. of Pupil Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid PA Certification in Home and School Visitor, required.
2. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
3. Cooperative, congenial and service oriented.
4. Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
5. Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision.
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
7. Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.
8. Ability and experience working as a member of a team.
9. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.

PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Reads and abides by the state and federal laws and regulations.
2. Serve as attendance officer and consults with the school personnel and parents regarding attendance and issues of truancy.
3. Coordinates referrals to AIU Truancy Prevention Program 

4. Serve as attendance officer and consults with the school personnel and parents regarding attendance and issues of truancy.

5. Counsel’s parents and students as warranted.
6. Arranges for transportation of parents to meetings if needed.
7. Establishes and maintains contact with community resources and social work agencies.
8. Liaison for students and families experiencing homelessness.
9. Engages in social work.
10. Investigate family problems and recommend services.
11. Provide for students’ needs through appropriate referral to certified school psychologist or guidance counselor.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
