HVAC Technician 

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  1. Possess HVAC certification required. 
  1. Must possess a valid PA driver’s license and demonstrate ability to drive various district vehicles required. 
  1. Must have demonstrated knowledge in reading blueprints and drawings. 
  1. Must have knowledge of commercial refrigeration.  
  1. Must have knowledge of ventilation, how to establish and maintain given airflow, how to troubleshoot minor electrical problems, how to size and install proper belts. 
  1. Must have knowledge of air-conditioning units, window and commercial public building up to and including 40-ton units. 
  1. Three (3) + years of proven HVAC work experience is preferred.  
  1. Able to manage multiple priorities and to work independently. 
  1. Must be able to operate District Trucks with plows for snow removal.  
  1. Must be able to perform snow removal (shoveling) for extended periods of time. 
  1. Ability to work as part of a team. 
  1. Any duties not listed above as required by management to insure best utilization of facilities. 
  1. Must have demonstrated ability in the installation and repair of equipment and devices that are part of our school plant facilities.

  1. Who has demonstrated a willingness to participate in emergencies, extra work, and has a good attendance. 

REPORTS TO: Plant Services Supervisor 

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: This position is accountable for being a professional part of the maintenance department, maintaining and repairing parts, and equipment to help keep the district operating safely and efficiently. 

PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  1. Repairs and replaces compressors and pneumatic control equipment. 
  1. Establishes ventilation and maintains given airflow, troubleshoots minor related electrical problems, sizes, and installs proper belts. 
  1. Repairs and installs window units and repairs coolers and freezers. 
  1. Troubleshoots and repairs hot water lines and units, including brazing of copper lines. 
  1. Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with district safety procedures. 
  1. Re-charging and removal of refrigerant from refrigeration units. 
  1. All other duties as assigned by manager or designee.
