Position Summary:
The Cafeteria Manager oversees the daily operations of the school cafeteria, ensuring compliance with the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs, adherence to company food concepts, and delivery of high-quality meals in a safe and efficient environment. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining nutrition standards and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Compliance & Food Service Operations

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the National School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program, including regulations, reporting, and meal pattern requirements.

• Oversee large-scale food preparation and ensure meals are prepared in accordance with recipes, nutritional guidelines, and safety standards.

• Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.

• Maintain accurate daily production records and required documentation in compliance with federal, state, and company standards.

• Uphold and model company food concepts and expectations for quality, consistency, and presentation.

Staff Leadership & Training

• Supervise, train, and evaluate cafeteria staff, ensuring effective teamwork and adherence to operational procedures.

• Provide training on food production, recipe utilization, and proper use of kitchen equipment.

• Reinforce company expectations and food concepts among team members.

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-focused kitchen culture.

Qualifications:

• 1–2 years of staff management experience in a food service or school cafeteria setting.

• Food service experience with demonstrated knowledge of large-scale meal preparation.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.

• Proficiency in reading recipes, performing basic math conversions, and maintaining accurate records.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Valid Driver’s License.

• Must obtain and maintain all required clearances and criminal background checks.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of USDA nutrition guidelines.

• Experience with menu planning and food ordering systems.

• ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
