Position Summary 

The Director of Academics is a leadership position responsible for supporting and advancing curriculum, instruction, and assessment within the assigned building. This position works collaboratively with the Building Principals and the Asst. to the Superintendent for Teaching, Learning and Assessment, K12 to ensure alignment of instructional practices with district priorities and Pennsylvania state standards, with a focus on improving student achievement outcomes. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

*In addition to other duties as assigned by the Asst. to the Superintendent for Teaching, Learning and Assessment, K12

 

  1. Attend and actively participate in principal data meetings, teacher data meetings, and grade-level/department data reviews to support data-informed instructional decision-making. 
  2. Participate in common planning meetings to ensure alignment of instructional practices, assessments, and interventions.
  3. Lead and support curriculum alignment efforts across grade levels and content areas to ensure vertical and horizontal coherence. 
  4. Monitor the implementation of district curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional frameworks with fidelity. 
  5. Collaborate with building administrators and instructional staff to analyze student achievement data and develop action plans designed to improve student performance. 
  6. Ensure curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices align with Pennsylvania Academic Standards and district priorities. 
  7. Support the development, implementation, and review of common formative and summative assessments aligned to district curriculum. 
  8. Assist in the planning and delivery of professional development aligned to district academic initiatives. 
  9. Provide instructional support and guidance to staff to strengthen classroom practices and student engagement. 
  10. Maintain ongoing communication with administration regarding progress, implementation challenges, and recommended improvements.
